My Favorite NYC Cupcakeries & Sweets Shops

Since I started a fitness blog, people have said things to me like “You must always eat healthy” and “I bet you never let yourself cheat.” Ha! These people are giving me too much credit. If you know me personally, you know that I have a major sweet tooth, especially when it comes to cupcakes and ice cream. I often eat baked salmon, brown rice, chopped salads, etc. In fact, the more I exercise, the more I crave healthy foods.

However, I live in a city that arguably offers the best of the best when it comes to food. When I work hard at the gym, I’m happy to reward myself with a treat. Today’s blog post is dedicated to my sweet tooth and my favorite spots to indulge in New York City. If you’re visiting Manhattan this holiday season, add a few of these shops to your list.

My Favorite NYC Cupcakeries

Two Little Red Hens — An American bakery that looks like a Southern kitchen and serves giant cupcakes. My favorites are the vanilla/vanilla and the banana. (1652 2nd Ave) – Pictured at left

Billy’s Bakery — The first shop I tried when I moved to New York. Each cupcake is rich and frosted by hand. My favorites are the chai and the banana. (Multiple Locations) – Pictured top right

Butter Lane — I took a baking class at this shop, which was featured on Best Thing I Ever Ate. My favorite is the strawberry or honey cinnamon on vanilla. (123 East 7th St) – Pictured bottom right

My Favorite NYC Treats Shops

Big Gay Ice Cream – Probably the best soft serve cone I’ve ever had. Get the Salty Pimp–vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche sauce, sea salt, chocolate dip. (Multiple Locations) – Pictured at left

Mud Coffee — While I drink lattes, I rarely drink straight coffee. Mud is the exception. It’s strong with the right amount of sweet. I like it best iced. (307 East 9th St) – Pictured top right

Fat Witch Brownies — This bakery is located in Chelsea Market, one of my favorite places in the city. The brownies are extra moist and filled with premium sweets. My favorites are the white chocolate and the dried cherry. (75 9th Ave) – Pictured bottom right

Oh yum! I also have a bit of a notorious sweet tooth so this whole post had me absolutely drooling. Such a great idea to profile them for a post – I might just steal your idea and do a DC version, if you don’t mind! Haha DC definitely does LOVE it’s cupcake shops… Plus it gives me a valid excuse to spend a day traveling around the city sampling sweet treats! ;)
