Welcome to the Grind

Remember when I said I’m running a half marathon because I’m sick of telling people I’m not a runner? Well, I’m also sick of telling people I’m not a morning person. No one is a morning person when they don’t get enough sleep and would rather hit snooze than face the dark and cold. After a great 6:00am run a few days ago, I watched a video that a close friend from high school posted on Facebook. It only confirmed that I’d made a good decision by waking up and heading to Central Park to put in the miles before work.

Think you’re not a morning person? You might reconsider after watching this video.

“So believe that voice that says ‘You CAN run a little faster’ and that ‘You CAN throw a little harder’ and that ‘You CAN dive a little deeper’ and that, for you, the laws of physics are merely a suggestion.

Luck is the last dying wish of those who want to believe that winning can happen by accident. Sweat, on the other hand, is for those who know it’s a choice, so decide now because destiny waits for no man.

And when your time comes and a thousand different voices are trying to tell you that you’re not ready for it, listen instead for that lone voice in dissent. The one that says you are ready, you are prepared, it’s all up to you now.

So rise and shine.”

Ugh, love this SO much! Hahah as a serious club swimmer for over a decade, this video was so spot on. 5:00 AM wake up times can really start to drag on you after a while and it’s pretty darn hard to remember why you even want to do this anymore. This definitely helps to put things into perspective!
