After connecting with the Armpocket team during a recent #RunChat Twitter party, they kindly offered to send me one of their running armbands. And offered to give one away to a lucky reader (details below)! I was excited to receive the armband in the mail because, until yesterday, I ran with my caseless iPhone 5s in my hand, with my headphones cord wrapped around my fingers. I know, not putting a case on my iPhone is asking for trouble. I’ve never shattered the screen. Knock on wood.
Yesterday’s run was actually kind of tough. Note to self: Do not eat a large French toast brunch before a long run. However, the Armpocket instantly became my new favorite running accessory. I’m using the i-10 in purple with a small strap size. I was easily able to fit my iPhone inside, plus my entire apartment keychain.

I was concerned that having an armband on while running would feel heavy, but that’s not the case. The Armpocket feels very light, even with my iPhone and keys inside, and stays in place once Velcroed on with the vented strap. I was also concerned that, since I usually wind my extra headphone cord around my fingers, the cord would dance all over the place while my arms were moving. This usually makes me crazy because it causes my earbuds to fall out. Miraculously, that didn’t happen either. The cord didn’t move too much and didn’t mess with my earbuds. Uninterrupted playlist = happy runner.
The one challenge that I did have was clicking my touchscreen through the Touch Control Window while running. There’s a piece of plastic over the screen that still allows you to click your iPhone, but it’s tough to do while moving. I had to scramble a bit to get my Nike+ Running App to start and stop. I’m sure I’ll get used to this, as I plan to wear my Armpocket on all future runs.
Armpocket has agreed to give one lucky reader an armband of his or her choice. Enter my giveaway by filling out the form below for your chance to win. I’ll announce the winner next Monday.
