You Can Do Anything But Not Everything

Just Breathe

I included the title of this post in an Instagram caption on Wednesday–the one day this week that I was feeling 100%. For most of the week, I’ve had sinus infection-like symptoms and have been a less-shiny version of myself. I always aim to make my blog posts upbeat (who wants to indulge in someone else’s complaints?), but I’ve been dragging this week. Truth be told, it’s difficult to go to work, maintain a blog, train for a race, have a social life, and still find time to relax. New York’s fast pace makes it especially difficult. I choose to do what I do because it makes me happy, but it’s important to remember that you can’t excel at everything. Be smart about how you manage your energy. Fight to maintain balance in life. Remember to pause and breathe.

On Sunday, I’ll be running 11 miles–my longest distance ever. Tomorrow, I’ll be getting a pedicure and a haircut to prepare. Or maybe just to treat myself. Balance, right?

I know how you feel! The last few weeks, even on days off from work (I’m a fitness instructor) I’ve been rushing around, working out, seeing people, attending events etc. I realised I hadn’t had a complete day off of absolutely nothing in about 3 weeks! It’s easy to get caught up in a busy life – London life for me! Balance is key, and a day of relaxation sounds like bliss.
Good luck with your run (and enjoy your pedicure!)
