For me, fresh strawberries are synonymous with summer. I’ll eat them throughout the year, but they’re sweetest in July and August. I can remember growing up and eating strawberries with lunch on summer days next to my backyard pool. My mom always cut off their leaves, stood them up on my plate, and called them strawberry rockets. When I’m at home, I still catch myself calling them that.
