The word lifehack has been thrown around quite a bit in the past few years. If you don’t believe me, check out the drastic increase in Google search volume. Buzzfeed-like websites have featured roundups of lifehacks, and there’s even a Lifehack.org blog. But after taking a look at other people’s healthy lifehack roundups, I realized that many of the suggestions are simply tips for how to live healthier. I can appreciate that, but when we’re talking lifehacking, I want to be able to kill two birds with one stone. We’re all incredibly busy and looking for ways to live healthier while doing an activity that we want or have to do. Here are four of my favorite lifehacks. If you have favorites, share them below!

Do good while on the move — Download the free Charity Miles app to earn money that will be donated to one of dozens of nonprofits when you walk, run, or bike. Bikers earn 10¢ per mile, while walkers and runners earn 25¢ per miles, up to the $1,000,000 sponsorship pool from corporate donors.
Get cultured while on the move — Download the Kindle app to listen to audio books or find podcasts on iTunes to listen to while commuting or during a long run/walk. Reserve your favorites for workouts only, so you’ll be encouraged to make time for more activity. It’ll also help the time to pass quicker.
Socialize while you sweat — Rather than grabbing a cocktail or dinner with a friend to catch up, sync your workout schedules. Studios like SoulCycle occasionally run a special where new students get a free class when attending with a friend. You can always grab a smoothie or healthy snack after class.
Increase life expectancy while you work — Sounds crazy, but according to this infographic you can when you use a standing desk. Apparently, standing for part of the work day can decrease your risk of mental illness, chronic kidney disease, and cancer. Read about my experience using a standing desk.
