#GivingTuesday with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

As many of you know, both my dad and my brother are cancer survivors. In April, I ran my first half marathon in Washington D.C. with Team in Training to raise money for blood cancer research through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Training and fundraising for the race was a fantastic way for me to give back to a cause that has impacted my family.

On Friday, I shopped at a mall. Yesterday, I shopped online. Today, I’ll be making a donation to LLS for the third annual #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. I’ll also be taking over the LLS Facebook and Twitter pages from 10-11am to share my connection to the cause. Please consider making a donation to LLS or clicking here to tweet your support. One of the best gifts you can give someone is the gift of hope.

Happy Birthday, Mom! Love you!

Your dad and brother are rock stars! I ran last year’s NYC Marathon with Fred’s Team. While fundraising + training was stressful, I’m so glad I did it and was happy to support such an amazing cause. We need to find a cure for you family, mine, and everyone else’s. I want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to give people a chance to live their lives in full #cancersucks

Thanks, Grace! I also consider them to be rockstars : ) I agree that fundraising adds extra stress to a challenging journey, but it’s so worth it. It’s special to run a race for a cause that’s much bigger than yourself. I’m so hopeful that research innovations will lead to a cure. LLS always says that they hope someday their organization won’t have to exist if people aren’t affected by blood cancers.
