If you’re like me, your name wasn’t selected from the lottery for a certain March 2015 half marathon in New York. If you were counting on that half marathon being your spring race, you’re in luck! The 12th annual MORE Magazine/FITNESS Magazine Half Marathon, one of the largest women’s-only halfs in the country, is open for registration (up to 10,000 runners). That’s right, no lottery. The race will be held on April 19 in Central Park, in partnership with the New York Road Runners.
“There’s no race like the MORE/FITNESS Women’s Half-Marathon,” says FITNESS Editor-in-Chief, Betty Wong. “The energy of thousands of women gathered in Central Park achieving their fitness goals and supporting each other across the finish line is what inspires me to join them year after year.”
This year, the race will raise awareness of the impact of climate change and the importance of sustainability. The Women Run the World™ program will honor women whose work focuses on addressing climate change policy and improving the environment. CARE, a leading humanitarian organization that empowers women and girls around the world, is the official charitable partner.
Register for the race or enjoy the Race Day Festival in April. I’m running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon on May 3 but am also considering this race. Two half marathons in three weeks? Why not!
