“For me, running has become a lifestyle. The self-confidence that I’ve gained from racing has carried over into my career, my relationships, and other areas of life. Even when I’ve just finished a sweaty 18-mile training run, I feel strong, capable and beautiful. However, I don’t necessarily think that running is the key to this feeling. I think it’s more about setting a big goal and consistently training to reach it. Join an intramural soccer team, ride your bike across the state, complete a Tough Mudder.”

    I really like your first piece of advice, actualylk signing up for the event! I’m guilty of playing the ‘what if’ game myself, even now with a workout this May that, for advanced participants, you wear a weighted vest. I’m practicing with it now but I’m saying to myself, if I don’t feel I’m ready to do a workout with 20 additional pounds on my body, I won’t do it. But, I need to just say I’m going to wear that vest and commit to it!

    Also, I really like the photo you have with this post. That’s awesome!

    GREAT article. Really love how you clarified that running itself isn’t the ONLY way that the practice boosts self confidence. Like you mentioned in a later post, sometimes running can be really frustrating – but the goals you can set and achieve make it all worth it. You have wonderful perspective. Thanks!
