I’ve mentioned before that I struggle with meditation. While I’m finally starting to get the hang of quieting my mind during a yoga class, I have more difficulty focusing when I’m sitting still. Living in a busy city likely contributes to making meditation difficult for me, but it’s also a reason why I could use more meditation in my life. Did you know that meditation lowers stress, improves sleep, sharpens focus, controls blood pressure, and leads to more happiness?
A few weeks ago, Tuja Wellness and Lolë Women invited me to take the 30-Day Meditation Challenge starting tomorrow, February 2. The online meditation videos will last 5 to 10 minutes in the first week, 15 minutes in the second week, 20 minutes in the third week, and up to 25 minutes in fourth week. Various meditation techniques will be introduced by experts such as Suzanne Slocum Gori, Grace Dubery, Carolyn Anne Budgell, Dawn Mauricio, and Emerson Lim. You can join the free Challenge, which is designed for newbies, any time during February.
I feel confident that I can meditate for 5 minutes but am wondering how I’ll handle sitting still for 20+ minutes. I’m sure the daily practice will help me work up to meditating for longer periods of time. I also plan to join meditation meetups at the Lolë store during the challenge. I’ll check in mid-month and at the end of the Challenge to share progress. I hope some of you will join me!
