On Sunday, I met up with Women Who Brunch and eight other ladies at Queens Kickshaw. It was actually my first time in Astoria, and I loved it. I plan to go back and properly explore when it’s not bitterly cold outside. Brunch started with coffee and an ice-breaker introduction. After ordering our meals (borrowed the eggs picture; I got French toast), I talked about my fitness journey and how I balance working and blogging. My favorite part of the brunch was going around the table and having everyone share what they find difficult about living a healthy lifestyle. The group had so many helpful tips to share related to corporate wellness, wearable devices, meal prep, weight lifting, quality sleep, etc. I had a wonderful time and felt encouraged talking to other women who struggle with some of the same issues that I do. I highly recommend Queens Kickshaw for a laid-back, tasty brunch.
If I’m being honest, I’ve been feeling a little bit down on myself for not jumping back into intense workouts after the marathon. I’ve heard that sometimes it takes one day for every mile (almost one month) to fully recover, so I shouldn’t feel guilty about taking it slow. However, it felt amazing to take an Uplifting Strength class with 20 of my friends at Athleta Flatiron yesterday. To have friends from work, volunteering, and fitness in one place was special. To also fit in a great workout, discounted shopping, and WTRMLN WTR sipping before the Super Bowl? Perfect Sunday morning. I believe my event will be the first in a series the Flatiron store hosts with bloggers, so stay tuned. Thank you all for brunching and sweating with me this weekend!
