I’ve trained at some amazing locations in New York, but Tuesday night’s view might top them all. I had the unique experience of joining PUMA in Times Square for the launch of its new IGNITE running shoe, featuring the brand’s most responsive foam ever for instant comfort. When I arrived in Times Square, the PUMA team fitted me for a pair of purple and orange shoes and assigned me to a treadmill. While I almost always run outside, it was a great opportunity to run a quick interval workout to test the shoes. It was also motivating to run to a live DJ and in front of crowds of tourists!
Although the IGNITE shoe is lightweight, I felt the high rebound cushioning as I ran about 2.5 miles on the treadmill. I’m used to a higher support shoe, but I appreciated the use of ForEverFoam in the heels to disperse impact and provide extra durability when my foot hit the ground. Runners increased energy to ignite a stage at the center of the event. Once the energy level reached 100%, Usain Bolt (fastest person ever) made a guest appearance to unveil the shoes to all of Times Square. I’m not sure I’ll ever have more fun running on a treadmill!
