I could not be more excited that the highs are in the 40s (and some 50s!) over the next 10 days. Spring is officially approaching. Honestly, I’ve been slacking on running over the last two weeks. I couldn’t bring myself to face the ice and freezing temperatures, so I took extra classes and ran on the treadmill a few times. That all changes this week. I have two weeks until I start working with Jess, and I need to make sure I have a solid base before then.
Yesterday, I ran in compression socks for the first time and loved it! I’ve been wanting to try a pair for quite some time, so Feetures kindly sent me a pair of their hot pink Graduated Compression Socks. Neon or it doesn’t go on, guys. I was excited that it was close to 50 degrees and wore my new socks with a pair of shorts. The socks were difficult to put on, but that may be typical. I realize that compression socks are supposed to be tight. The socks are meant to improve circulation throughout the leg to promote faster recovery and reduced fatigue. The graduated compression encourages blood flow back to the heart. Wearing the socks felt like wearing tights while running. I felt less achy than usual during the run and didn’t experience any immediate swelling after the run. I also liked that the socks had no seam in the toe area. Love them for fashion and function. I may have to buy the black or yellow pair to wear during the Pittsburgh Half!
